In recent news, Tuskegee University implemented rules that prohibit students from wearing sleepwear, including bonnets and durags, to class.

This has sparked discussion again in the Black American community and there are strong stances coming from both sides on the decision.

Is it truly about giving grace to young people, or a lack of decorum and respect? Is it respectability politics or upholding a standard we aspire for the next generation to uphold?
